Clinical Data Analyst Intern

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Clinical Data Analyst Intern to join our Clinical Quality & Value (CQV) team for Summer 2025. This paid, part-time internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience working closely with the Combined Analytics Team (CAT) to support a variety of impactful projects. From quality measure development to research studies and industry collaborations, you’ll help transform data into insights that shape the future of orthopaedic care.
As a Clinical Data Analyst Intern you will:
- Support the development of clinical practice guidelines and appropriate use criteria.
- Assist with data analysis for research studies, quality measures, and industry partner projects.
- Use SAS to create datasets, answer research questions, and develop quality metrics.
- Contribute to manuscript writing, documentation, and methodology development.
- Participate in data cleaning and preparation for Registry Analytics Institute-approved studies.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Currently pursuing an MPH or related graduate degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or public health.
- Strong interest in healthcare data analytics and research.
- Proficiency in SAS.
Desired:
- Experience with R or SQL.
- Familiarity with clinical research, healthcare quality standards, or medical coding.
Internship Details:
- Hours/Week: Flexible scheduling based on availability; interns are expected to average at least 15 hours per week, up to a maximum of 20 hours per week. Interns may work up to 7.5 hours/day, Monday–Friday between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, for a maximum of up to 37.5 hours/week.
- Location: Hybrid. Initial in-person training and workspace will be provided at AAOS headquarters in Rosemont, IL (Higgins and River Rd.), accessible via the Blue Line Rosemont stop and I-90.
- Duration: 6 months
- Hourly Salary: $15.00/hour
