The OLC, a part of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, is seeking a dedicated Cadaver Surgical Lab Steward to join our team on an as-needed basis. Your role will be crucial in handling anatomic specimens with the utmost care and precision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Specimen Receipt: Carefully receive anatomic specimens, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Specimen Care: Properly handle, store, and refrigerate specimens to maintain their integrity.
  • Operational Setup: Prepare and dismantle surgical setups for procedures, demonstrating efficiency and organization.
  • Specimen Disposition: Manage the respectful disposal of specimens post-use.
  • Cleanliness: Maintain impeccable cleanliness in the specimen setup and storage areas.
  • Specimen Handling: Independently manage or coordinate with others for handling heavy specimens.
  • Event Support: Provide hands-on assistance to physicians, trainers, and participants during medical training events.
  • Cadaver Care: Ensure proper care of cadaveric specimens during transport and training.
  • Event Management: Handle teardown, cleaning, repacking, and reloading of specimens after events.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Prior experience with anatomic specimens is preferred.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift and manage up to 100 pounds, and the endurance to sit, stand, and walk for long periods.
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for precision and cleanliness.
  • Professionalism: Treat anatomic specimens with the utmost dignity and respect.
  • Team Player: Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues, medical professionals, sponsors, and event coordinators.
