Political Outreach Director
You are a strategic thinker with a strong interest in politics and a drive to create meaningful advocacy programs. AAOS is looking for a skilled Political Outreach Director to elevate two cornerstone initiatives, the Orthopaedic PAC and the Advisor’s Circle. This is an exciting opportunity to drive national political engagement, shape fundraising strategy, and work directly with key influencers in Washington, D.C. and beyond.

In this role, you’ll lead high‑impact PAC operations, manage and grow the million‑dollar Advisor’s Circle program, represent AAOS at political events, and engage orthopaedic residents and members in critical advocacy efforts. You’ll craft compelling outreach communications, innovate new fundraising avenues, and help execute political events and workshops across the country.
We’re looking for someone with:
- 5+ years of experience in political campaigns, fundraising, or grassroots advocacy
- A strong understanding of the U.S. political system and comfort working in bipartisan environments
- Excellent communication, writing, and relationship‑building skills
- Detail‑oriented project management and the confidence to represent AAOS in high‑profile settings
Travel:
Up to 35 days per year
Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
- 5 to 7 years of government relations experience
- Experience with a PAC, preferably through two election cycles
- Skilled at networking and negotiating
- Knowledge of the legislative process and grassroots advocacy
- Experience managing multiple projects
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to convey concepts clearly and write effectively for each of various publication styles, including issue papers, web pages, newsletters, advocacy action alerts, fundraising appeals, year-end reports, event promotions, advertising copy and others
- Strong interpersonal, writing and oral communication skills mandatory
- Skilled at Word, Excel, PowerPoint

- Experience with industry-specific PAC and grassroots software programs
- Familiarity with medical PAC community
- Contacts with the Hill and Members of Congress
Salary Range: $83,000 - $86,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
