The Marketing Analyst, Membership Acquisition and Customer Onboarding will play a key role in supporting the Marketing Manager in the planning, execution, and optimization of membership acquisition and onboarding initiatives. This role emphasizes data-driven decision-making to improve campaign strategies, maximize member and non-member engagement, and enhance onboarding experiences across key member segments. This includes executing digital and social strategies, optimizing paid and organic media, and ensuring all efforts align with the Academy’s membership goals.
With a strong focus on analytics, this position is responsible for tracking and analyzing campaign performance, generating insights, and providing targeted, analytics-based recommendations to optimize both paid and organic digital strategies. The Marketing Analyst will help ensure all efforts align with the Academy’s membership goals, actively contributing to the development of high-impact acquisition and onboarding tactics tailored to various membership personas.
This position will report to the Marketing Manager, Acquisition and Onboarding, within the Marketing, Communications, and Membership Department.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience with marketing automation tools, and the ability to make strategic decisions based on data. This individual should be a motivated, detail-oriented marketing professional with a strong affinity for data analysis and reporting. They should be comfortable working on high-visibility projects and possess a solid grasp of general marketing principles and tools, including membership and budget tracking. Additionally, this candidate will be an effective written and oral communicator who can simplify complex information for various audiences.
Key qualifications include critical analysis skills, intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, and proficiency in reporting software like Power BI. The ideal candidate must also demonstrate strong project and time management abilities, be adept at working with senior stakeholders (including the AAOS Membership Council), and be capable of collaborating across multiple departments to drive initiatives forward.
Support for the Senior Marketing Manager, Acquisition and Onboarding
- Collaborate directly with the Marketing Manager to align on acquisition and onboarding goals, key metrics, and campaign strategies.
- Assist in identifying, testing, and implementing new tactics across channels to improve member acquisition and onboarding outcomes.
- Contribute data-driven insights to help refine strategic approaches, member personas, and messaging, ensuring they are well-aligned with target audiences.
- Provide regular performance reports and insights to support the Marketing Manager in refining acquisition and onboarding strategies, including tracking key metrics for budget adherence and identifying trends to optimize campaigns.
- Support initiatives to standardize and automate reporting processes, ensuring the team has reliable and actionable data for decision-making.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to identify and document best practices in campaign execution and reporting, providing training for team members where needed to support overall team efficiency and development.
Campaign Analytics and Optimization
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data from digital marketing campaigns to inform the Marketing Manager of actionable insights and areas for optimization.
- Design and manage A/B tests across digital channels to determine the most effective strategies for engagement and conversion.
- Build and maintain detailed reports on campaign performance, funnel conversion rates, and engagement metrics, ensuring the Marketing Manager and other stakeholders have clear visibility into campaign effectiveness.
Execution of Data-Driven Marketing Campaigns
- Develop and launch targeted acquisition and onboarding campaigns in collaboration with the Marketing Manager, overseeing implementation from ideation through execution.
- Optimize lead generation initiatives and nurture streams to drive conversions, working to achieve acquisition targets and improve new member experiences.
- Ensure messaging is consistent and resonates across different segments, adapting content to reach multiple target audiences and analyzing response data for continual refinement.
Cross-Department Collaboration
- Coordinate with the Membership Operations team to ensure campaign data flows effectively across platforms, supporting a seamless member experience.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams, including Membership Operations and Customer Service, to ensure campaigns are executed smoothly and aligned with overall strategic objectives set by the Marketing Manager.
- Partner with the Membership Engagement and Retention team to facilitate smooth transitions as members move from acquisition to onboarding, engagement, and renewal phases.
- Support the preparation of strategic reports for presentation to the Membership Council, providing insights into campaign performance and membership trends.
Analytics and Strategic Reporting
- Build and maintain monthly ROI and performance reports to track key metrics, measure success points, and identify areas of opportunity.
- Assists the Marketing Manager by conducting in-depth analyses of acquisition and onboarding data, helping to identify high-impact channels and recommend adjustments to improve ROI.
- Collaborate with the Senior Marketing Manager to enhance Academy solutions for conversion rate tracking, reporting, and data visualization.
- Use Power BI, Google Analytics, and other tools to produce insights on member behaviors, providing recommendations to support the Senior Marketing Manager’s strategic planning.
Technology and Tools Management
- Leverage marketing automation platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Eloqua, Salesforce Marketing Cloud) for lead generation, nurture stream development, and campaign tracking.
- Support the setup and optimization of marketing automation tools and CRM processes, contributing to lead generation, nurturing workflows, and list segmentation that align with the broader strategic goals.
- Work with internal teams and vendors to ensure data integrity and optimal use of reporting platforms for continuous improvement.
Budget and Resource Optimization
- Monitor and assist the Marketing Manager in managing the marketing budget, emphasizing cost-effective use of funds to maximize ROI.
- Identify efficiencies and process improvements within the analytics workflow, aiming to optimize resource allocation and reporting accuracy.
Key Internal Projects
- Support the strategy and execution of all acquisition and onboarding operations and communications for key audience personas
- Assist in the development of marketing materials, including, but not limited to, email, postcards, telemarketing scripts, social media, web edits/updates, and promotional videos.
- Lead for strategy to identify and establish acquisition lists and lead generation funnels to acquire new members
- Support the new member experience from key transition points, including transitions of key member groups (resident to fellowship, resident to candidate, fellowship to candidate, candidate to fellow, fellow to emeritus, etc.)
- Assist with the preparation of ROI analysis, process improvements, and analytics for all marketing initiatives related to member acquisition and onboarding
- Collaborate with the AAOS Service Center and Membership Operations teams in follow up for all tracking of applications, both board-approved, and non-board approved, including application fee collection, as well as support oversight for all resident dashboards and transition categories to ensure optimal experience and immediate onboarding of new and transitioning members.

Qualifications:
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Background in direct response and digital marketing, with a focus on data analysis, content performance metrics, and conversion optimization required
- Experience with paid media (Google Ads, social platforms), Google Analytics, SEO, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
- Proficiency in Excel (intermediate to advanced) for data analysis and reporting
- Familiarity with marketing automation platforms such as HubSpot, Eloqua, Salesforce Marketing Cloud required
Desired Education, Qualifications, Experience
- 3-5 years’ experience in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Email Marketing, Communications/PR or Advertising, or Association
- Basic skill with HTML and/or web development software
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus but not required
Salary Range: $70,000 -$75,000
