The Program Manager, American Spine Registry (ASR) is responsible for the operational execution, governance management, specialty society coordination, and cross-functional execution, governance management, specialty society coordination, and cross-functional enablement of the American Spine Registry (ASR), a joint clinical registry between the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS).  

The Program Manager serves as the primary staff liaison to a combined neurosurgical and orthopaedic surgeon committee, overseeing dual‑society governance processes, maintaining alignment with both organizations’ strategic priorities, and coordinating approvals for key registry decisions, including roadmap direction, publications, pricing, collateral, and external communications. The role works closely with Product, Analytics, Technology & Data Services (TDS), Engagement, Support, Marketing, and the Quality Programs & Partnerships Manager to drive registry adoption, data completeness, and clinical relevance. Additionally, the Program Manager is responsible for escalating strategic, cross‑registry, or partnership‑sensitive issues to the Business Lead, Registry Program Management.

Governance and Society Coordination  

  • Serve as staff liaison to ASR surgeon committees, working groups, and subcommittees  
  • Manage dual-society governance processes with AAOS and AANS, including approvals and decision tracking  
  • Maintain CAP (Committee Appointment Program) compliance for ASR committees and ensure parallel alignment to AANS governance expectations  
  • Coordinate clinical priorities and strategic updates across neurosurgical and orthopaedic leaders  
  • Prepare agendas, materials, summaries, and follow-ups for governance bodies and specialty society leadership  

Strategic Partnership Enablement  

  • Maintain ongoing communication with AANS staff and surgeon leadership to ensure partnership transparency  
  • Coordinate cross-organization decision-making for roadmap, collateral, pricing, publications, and external announcements  
  • Support alignment to specialty-specific value propositions and clinical use cases across spine surgery  

Operational Registry Management  

  • Coordinate cross-functional planning and execution of registry activities with internal AAOS teams  
  • Support Engagement and Support teams in onboarding, implementation planning, and site escalations  
  • Track registry performance metrics including participation, data submission trends, and completeness measures  
  • Develop internal and external-facing materials including participant resources, promotional materials, and reports  

Clinical Relevance and Content Support  

  • Facilitate surgeon input for module development, revisions, data elements, and clinical workflows  
  • Coordinate with Analytics on benchmarking needs, report structures, and annual reporting deliverables  
  • Interface with specialty societies to support research, presentation, and publication opportunities  

External Representation  

  • Represent ASR in spine-related society meetings, conferences, and neurosurgery-facing events  
  • Support awareness, recruitment, and adoption strategies in collaboration with Marketing and Engagement  

Escalation & Alignment  

  • Escalate cross-society, cross-registry, or strategic risks to the Business Lead for coordination and resolution  
  • Support alignment between ASR and broader AAOS registry strategies, initiatives, and value messaging  

Travel:

  • Up to 10 days per year

Qualifications:

Required:  

Bachelor’s degree 

  • Leadership level communication skills with stakeholders internally and externally 
  • Experienced presenter, in-person and on webinars, with an ability to translate information to a variety of disciplines 
  • Fluency in technology programs such as the windows suite with an aptitude for quickly learning new software applications  
  • Demonstrated record of professional and proactive follow-up with partners and clients 
  • Subject matter expertise in quality improvement and/or performance measurement 
  • Proficiency at interacting with medical professionals including physicians, clinician-scientist and researchers 

Desired:   

  • Experience working in a clinical setting, particularly orthopaedic or physical therapy 
  • Experience working in a specialty society and/or with a clinical data registry 
  • Advanced degree in public health or healthcare related field 
  • Interest in and experience with health care policy that impacts clinical data registries, such as the physician fee schedule 
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality practices, policies and procedures  
  • Knowledge of orthopaedic clinical care and practice 

Salary Range: $90,000- $95,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
